In the role of Outpatient Controlled Substances Lead, the technician lead serves in the areas of outpatient, controlled substances and investigational medicine. The Pharmacy Technician in this position works mainly in the Pharmacy Narcotic vault and Outpatient, with secondary responsibilities as a staff technician in inpatient area pharmacy service. Assist in the daily data collection process of investigational drug studies and in record keeping, return and receipt and security of inventory of investigational drug stock. Assist in total quality improvement activities by ensuring that appropriate pharmaceutical supplies are stocked where needed, at adequate levels to provide patient care and reduce waste. Assist assigned medical center personnel with an all-inclusive inventory of narcotic every 72hours. Upon receipt of supply order, verify receipts and vouchers, adjust inventory balances, and secure stock. Return narcotics for destruction and completes all necessary forms and records, ensuring the medications are logged and secured.
